Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. She was part of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget as well as arms control. She traveled with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss topics such as the Iran Contra scandal.
