Aurora

Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 1995, in Stavanger) is a Norwegian musician and singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, was released in May of 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. She has recorded several high-profile songs as covers, like Half the World Away (by Oasis) for the Christmas advert. Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert as well as Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that are widely loved. She gained some further recognition via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering a grand piano that was in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see what it could do. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get a job or a hobby and as a way to grow. As a result, she started writing her own music. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. After her mother said that the songs she wrote might not be famous for her, rather to help people to see the value of themselves and their impact to this world, she began playing them on stage. The piano was her first instrument, at six. She began writing music when she turned nine. Family members didn't even have any idea about it until she reached the age of 14. It was never a dream to turn into Aurora. Aurora is simply a writer who loves writing songs. According to her, she believes music can make people feel more relaxed.
